The aim of this blog is to explore the wide range of available avenues for students after earning a B.Tech. degrees.

All the students are aware of the fact that primarily an above average score is required in the 12th Board exams with science subjects i.e. in PCM- Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

What is required for pursuing a B.Tech. degree, the caring parents and guardians, by default, infuse in their wards the ability to think logically and invoke interest in mind games and other pursuits.

Good parenting plays a very positive and crucial role in developing scientific temperament in children, which later, enables them to earn B.Tech. degrees.

Students start preparing for the big score right from their 6-8th standard. They get momentum in the 9th and 10th Grade. And in the 11th and 12th Grade, they sincerely work full throttle to secure admission to the B.Tech. degree programmes.

After completing 12th grade, 4 years (8 Semesters) duration of B.Tech. degree programme proves to be a stepping stone for rapid career progression in various disciplines.

The scope of B.Tech. degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering can be gauged from a wide range of consumer products available for the masses the world over.

The Chemicals & Soaps and Detergents industries have huge potential for the B.Tech. degree holders. Career options after B.Tech., are many.

Career options after B.Tech. in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering:

    Polyethylene (PE) Manufacturing Plants:

B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering or B. Tech. in Mechanical Engineering have good prospects for job employment in Petrochemical Industries manufacturing Polyethylene at large scale to the tune of 7,000,00 to 8,000,00 Tonnes/annum in India. Petrochemical industries such as Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd. meet almost 40% of the demands of Polyethylene(PE) of eastern India and roughly 15% of the demand of overall India.

The latest technology machines are used in manufacturing plants for producing High-Density Polyethylene(HDPE) and linear Low-Density Polyethylene(LLDPE).

    Polypropylene Manufacturing Plants:

B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering or B. Tech. in Mechanical Engineering students are aware of the potential of Polypropylene manufacturing as the same is used in Film lamination, Polythene and Polymer use, Woven sacks, Packaging industry, Paint and Oil, Consumer durables, Houseware, Plastic furniture, Manufacturing of Battery Boxes, Containers, Luggage manufacturing. These manufacturing plants offer a plethora of job opportunities for the B.Tech. degree holders in the disciplines of Chemical or Mechanical engineering.

    Synthetic Rubber- Tyre Manufacturing Plants:

B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering or B. Tech. in Mechanical Engineering find employment in the Tyre industry. Polybutadiene Rubber(PBR) and styrene Butadiene Rubber(SBR) are manufactured for commercial usage of synthetic rubber. These are used in manufacturing Gloves, Tablets, and Synthetic Resins for automobile parts. Similarly, Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene(ABS) is manufactured at a large scale. Styrene Butadiene (SB Latex) is used for coating and carpet backing.

    Benzene- Aromatic Hydrocarbon Manufacturing Units:

Career options after B.Tech. include the Petrochemical industries manufacturing Benzene which is vastly used for producing polymers/Plastics Synthetic Rubber/Latex/Resins; Cyclohexane is used in producing Caprolactam which is used in manufacturing Nylon; Chlorobenzene is used for producing Pesticides, Dyes and rubber chemicals; Phenol is used for producing Polymers, Plastics, Synthetic Resins, Adhesives and Drugs; Nitrobenzene/Aniline is used for producing Urethane/Rubber chemicals, Dyes & Pesticides; Linear Alkyl Benzene is used for producing Detergents and Industrial cleaners.

    Cyclopentane Manufacturing Units:

Cyclopentane manufacturing units provide a good scope for engineers to excel in the field of chemical engineering. Cyclopentane, a halogen-free, with low ozone-depleting potential (LODP), the eco-friendly agent is used for thermal insulation in refrigerators as Polyurethane foam.

It is also used in insulated pipes and roofs, construction panels, synthetic resin manufacturing, rubber adhesives and lubricants manufacturing. Cyclopentane is fast replacing ChloroFluoroCarbon(CFC) & HydroChloroFluoroCarbons(HCFC).

    Carbon Black Feedstock(CBFS) Manufacturing Units:

Carbon Black Feedstock(CBFS) manufacturing plants offer good scope for engineers as this is used as a reinforcing agent in Rubber products such as Tyres, Conveyor Belts Cables etc.

Foreign Technologies Used in Chemical Manufacturing:-

The manufacturing plants of the above-varied chemical compounds use foreign technologies that are handled efficiently by the B.Tech. degree in Chemical Engineering or B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering professionals. The technologies mostly used in manufacturing the aforementioned compounds are as under:-

The chemical manufacturers usually provide employment to Bachelor’s graduates both in Non-engineering and Engineering. Besides MBA and CA professionals are also employed by these Manufacturing companies.
